The base model costs $699 for 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage. That’s $50 more than last year’s S25 FE. For the extra cash you get an Exynos 2500 chip built on 3 nm, a 6.7-inch 120 Hz AMOLED display, and a 4,900 mAh battery that now tops up to 69 % in 30 minutes over 45 W wired. Last year’s model managed 65 % in the same time, per SamMobile and Engadget. Wireless is capped at 15 W, and you can still share power to another device.
Cameras stay the same: 50 MP wide, 12 MP ultrawide, 8 MP telephoto with 3× optical, and a 12 MP selfie cam. New tricks come via AI. My FanCam keeps your chosen subject centered in video. Super Steady with Horizontal Lock keeps footage level even if the phone tilts. Photo Assist now takes plain-English edits like “make the sky bluer,” and Gemini Omni can automatically stitch together a video from your gallery.
The phone boots Android 17 and One UI 9. That brings a suite of AI helpers: Now Brief gives you customizable at-a-glance cards, Now Nudge nudges you inside third-party apps, and Circle to Search can now dig into images with multiple subjects. And then there’s the update policy. Samsung vies with its own flagships by promising seven OS generations and seven years of security patches.
Design echoes the flagship S26 line: flat frame, 7.4 mm thick, 193 g in hand, plus an IP68 seal. Colors are Blueberry, Graphite, Pistachio, though not every region gets every hue. Early buyers also receive six months of Google AI Pro, normally a $19.99 monthly extra, which tosses in 5 TB of cloud storage.
Now here’s the hook. A $50 jump is noticeable, yet the core cameras and most hardware feel comfortably familiar. The Exynos 2500 and that slight charging bump aren’t Earth-shaking. The draw is really One UI 9: My FanCam and Horizontal Lock might never migrate to older phones. Longevity counts too. Seven years of fixes and flagship software sweetness may tip the scales for keepers, not switchers.
Still, consider the math. Engadget points out that the standard Galaxy S26, already dipping to $799 on discount, carries a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, 12 GB of RAM, and 256 GB of storage. That’s an extra hundred for markedly better kit.
